Motomachi Restaurant is a unique concept, which has aimed to bring the taste of Japan to the desert of Dubai.
Located in Dubai Festival City Mall it has both an indoor seating area as well as an outdoor seating area with views of old Dubai as well as new Dubai. They serve authentic Japanese food in Dubai, cooked and served by an all Japanese Staff.
Once you step into the restaurant, you will instantly feel whisked away to the charm of Japan.
We were greeted by Japanese staff who were warm and courteous. Everything about the restaurant is charming, from the interiors to the prints on the menu, to the lamps, everything is beautiful!
Being a vegetarian, they did have quite a few options from their extensive menu.
We tried:
Yasai Kakiage – Five kinds of vegetable tempura – Crisp and fried to a beautiful golden, these were tasty and went well with the dipping sauce that came with it.
Nasu Dengaku – Grilled Eggplant dressed with Saikyo Miso – If you are not an eggplant lover like I am, this one is not for you. A bit to the sweet side, this unique dish was a delight to the tastebuds.
Yasai Sushi – Vegetable Roll, Avocado, Asparagus, cucumber, carrot, lettuce and mayonnaise – this combination was one of the best i have indulged in! So much, that i finished the entire plate myself.

Japanese Green Tea – What’s not to love! Served warm in japanese tea sets, you will truly feel like you are part of a Japanese home.
For desserts, this place is a Japanese dessert paradise! We tried The Chocolate Cake which was like a Mousse and heavenly! And the jiggly Mototmatchi Cheesecake which if you ever want to try the soft Japanese cheese cake that you see going viral on Instagram, you should try this one.

We also tried the Taiyaki which is like a fish shaped waffle filled with your choice of Nutella or cream. We obviously opted for the Nutella

The Matcha Parfait was unfortunately not for me! I guess i don’t like all things Matcha
The stunning interiors will take your breath away.

For a true Japanese experience, this is the place to be! It’s a bit hard to find as it’s located at one end of the mall, but once you dine here, it will be well worth the walk.
