HUNTR REVIEW

Motomachi Dubai serves up authentic Japanese cuisine and some cracking sushi in Festival City. Take a closer look with The Huntr here, now…

Tucked away inside the ground level of Dubai Festival City, next to the super chic Robinson department store, lies this little gem. Motomachi is as authentic as they come – with Japanese staff (including the chefs) and the real deal taste of Japan. The decor is also very Japanese – with minimal vibes and cute little elements like dolls and kimonos peppering this eatery, which is Instagram-perfect.

What sets Motomachi Dubai apart is the theatrical manner in which the super tasty sushi is prepared. The Huntr watched on as a fire torch was used to scorch the salmon on one of our dishes, which gave a burnt taste that lingered on the palette in a really pleasant way. Plus Japan’s favourite street food snack – ‘takoyaki’ – is on offer here and The Huntr definitely recommends sampling this seafood pancake ball creation. Yum! We also tried the veggie tempura served with a delicious sauce and the classic miso ramen dish – which proves that simplicity is king and has tender slices of chicken breast, sprouts, and egg.

To end a delightful meal we ordered the iconic Japanese cheesecake, which was perfectly fluffy and really a must-try.

We love this restaurant’s approach to traditional Japanese cuisine – this isn’t fusion, this is proper Japanese with dishes that are prepared simply, but are rich in flavour.
